Among Dragon's Blood Trees and Hidden Creatures
On Day 11, we made our way to another section of the highlands, where we hiked through yet another mesmerizing forest of these iconic trees. Their umbrella-like canopies cast strange, beautiful shadows across the rocky ground. As we wandered deeper, we spotted a few tarantulas—an endemic variety found only on Socotra, elusive and fascinating.
Our exploration carried on into the afternoon, and the wild beauty of the place made it hard to leave. So we didn't. As the sun began to set, we set up camp right there in the forest, surrounded by the towering silhouettes of Dragon's Blood trees. The sense of isolation, the quiet hum of the island, and the surreal setting made it a night we'll never forget.
