Twenty years of multiple attempts to visit the island of Socotra, situated between the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, finally became a reality in 2022. After conducting extensive research and placing our trust in the process, we made the payment for our Yemeni visas and flights to Socotra from Abu Dhabi. We booked our two-week adventure through Socotra Trek Tours, a Socotra-based travel agency authorized to facilitate foreign travel to the island, managed by Adnan Alnoby. The small Arabian Air chartered plane departs only on Mondays to and from the island, with mostly Soqotrians and about 20-30 tourists, eager to explore the incredible landscapes and unique nature of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Unlike most tourists to the island, Pawel, Jenny, and Jerodé opted to stay for two weeks, which allowed us to explore this unspoiled beauty at a relaxed pace.
