The map below shows the areas that we explored on this day.

After cooling off in the mountains, this was the day for mostly relaxation and swimming in the sea. We stayed at a small beach resort that was still in its early days of construction. We slept in our tents, but had access to a good shower and a kitchen, where Jenny prepared a freshly caught fish for supper. I don't eat fish, but I've heard it's superb!
Day Eight was yet another hot day on the island, so soaking in the sea was the best way of enjoying the day. We were relatively far from the town, and the beach was practically all ours. Floating on water and soaking up the sun was fantastic. In midday, Jenny and I went for a long walk to explore the shipwreck that had been 2016 parked on the beach not too far away from where we stayed. We had plenty of time to read books, sleep, rest, and do 'nothing'. After a whole week of being very active, this was a perfect break.
We stayed out late into the night, gazing at the stars using a stargazing app on our phones as a guide. Jenny and Jerodé, living in the Southern Hemisphere, don't know the Northern sky. From Socotra, one can see the Northern Star (Polaris) and several constellations that I was only telling them about. It was a lot of fun. In the early morning, Jerodé took a time-lapse photo/video of the sunrise, which you can also enjoy below.
